WhatsApp Back Online After Global Outage
Pakistan Prime: WhatsApp, along with fellow Meta-owned platforms Instagram and Facebook, experienced a brief outage, impacting users worldwide. The outage began around Wednesday evening and left many users unable to communicate effectively. Users reported issues sending or receiving messages, logging in to the app, or refreshing their feeds on both WhatsApp and Instagram. Facebook users also encountered problems accessing the social network.
Downdetector, a website that tracks online outages, saw a surge in user reports coinciding with the outage. The number of reports peaked at over 24,000 for WhatsApp in the United States alone. Users in other countries, including India, the United Kingdom, and Brazil, were also significantly impacted.
Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook, acknowledged the issue and assured users they were working to resolve it. Service restoration began shortly after and continued throughout the night. By Thursday morning, all three platforms appeared to be functioning normally. This is the second time this year that Meta’s platforms have experienced a widespread outage, raising concerns about the company’s infrastructure reliability.
The cause of the outage remains undisclosed by Meta. Social media users speculated about various reasons, but without an official explanation, it’s difficult to say for certain what triggered the disruption.
