Collective Marriages; 18 couples got married
Ijtimai Shadiyan Committee (Collective Marriages Committee), on Thursday, arranged a collective marriage ceremony for 18 couples in Alamdar Road, Quetta; Balochistan’s northeast city, on the auspicious day of Mubahila, an Islamic occasion.
“We managed to arrange the marriages of eighteen couples together, on the auspicious occasion of Eid Mubahila”, said Allama Syed Hashim Musavi, one of the organisers of Collective Marriages Committee.
The couples participating in the collective marriages were from various neighbourhoods of Quetta, reflecting the diversity and unity within the city. Their special day was graced by the presence of close friends, relatives, political and social activists of Quetta, as well as esteemed religious scholars, who all shared in the joyous occasion.
The initiative of collective marriages, which has been in practice for the past 12 years, aims to alleviate the financial burden associated with weddings and make marriage more accessible to all, according to Allama Hashim Musavi.
Since its inception in 2011, over 300 couples have been united in matrimony through the collective marriage events organized by the committee. The noble endeavour has proven instrumental in fostering an environment of inclusivity and ensuring that the sacred bond of marriage remains within reach for everyone.
Allama Syed Hashim Musavi, while speaking to Pakistan Prime, emphasized the significance of Eid Mubahila in the Islamic calendar, highlighting that the committee consistently arranges different events on this sacred day. He further elaborated, “Eid Mubahila is celebrated every year on the 18th of Zil-Hajj, and we always arrange different events on this date.”
The esteemed presence of Advocate Inayatullah Kasi, a prominent tribal leader of Balochistan, added to the grandeur of the event. As the chief guest, Advocate Kasi extended his heartfelt congratulations to the newly married couples. He commended the Collective Marriages Committee for their commendable efforts in organizing such a remarkable event and encouraged people to actively participate in similar positive endeavours.
“I’ve supported the activities of the Collective Marriages Committee in the past too, and would always be present to support it”, he expressed his support while addressing the event.
